Reading rainbowThanks to great prices at and an irresistible impulse to collect reading material, I now own the following:
  • Forever Summer by Nigella Lawson
  • On Food and Cooking: The Science and Lore of the Kitchen by Harold McGee
  • Jacques Pépin Celebrates by Jacques Pépin
  • The Secrets of Baking by Sherry Yard
I'm especially excited about the McGee book which is antithetical to most books about food. There aren't any recipes or colour photographs in the 800+ pages, instead, it features diagrams of plant cells and explanations of the chemical reactions that occur in cooking. Perfect for the food nerds among us.
